tastyfx Review: Did the IG US Rebrand Actually Change Anything?
IG US became tastyfx in 2024, and the desk opened an account to see whether the new name brought new pricing. It did not: three tiers, five platforms and the same NFA registration as before.
Best for: US traders who want NFA oversight and are willing to pick a tier instead of one blended price
tastyfx is IG US with a friendlier name and no real change to its pricing or oversight. The Zero+ account is genuinely cheap for the 13 pairs it covers, the NFA and CFTC registration is solid, but Standard-tier traders and anyone wanting all 85 pairs at raw cost still pay for the brand's polish.
Price $1 technical minimum; practical funding from $250Maker IG US LLCtastyfx.com
IG US disappeared from our watchlist in the summer of 2024 and tastyfx took its place, so we went back to check whether the new sign above the door came with a new shop behind it. We opened a live account, funded it, ran orders through three separate pricing tiers and compared the receipts with what OANDA and FOREX.com charge for the same trades.
The name changed, the paperwork did not
tastyfx is IG US LLC trading under a new brand built to sit alongside tastytrade and tastylive, the other consumer brands under IG's roof. The NFA membership number on our account confirmation, 0509630, is the same one IG US traders have carried for years, and CFTC registration as a Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer did not move either. If a trader picked tastyfx expecting a fresh regulatory story, there is not one: this is IG's US forex desk with a new coat of paint, and that is not a complaint. Continuity in a regulator ID is worth more than a slick rebrand video.
Three tiers, and Zero+ is where the savings live
tastyfx sells three accounts rather than one blended price, and the difference between them is the whole pricing story.
Standard charges no commission and quoted us EUR/USD from 0.8 pips across the full 85-pair sheet.
Zero+ dropped our spread toward 0.0 pips but added a flat $5 per lot round turn, and it only works on 13 selected pairs.
Prime needs $50,000 sitting in the account before its terms apply, which puts it out of reach for most retail traders reading this.
Run the arithmetic on a single EUR/USD lot and Zero+ wins for anyone trading in size: $5 in commission beats paying the spread difference on Standard once volume passes a few lots a week. ForexBrokers.com measured a live average of 1.15 pips on the commission-free account during independent testing, a number that sits above IC Markets or Pepperstone's raw tiers but roughly matches what FOREX.com quotes retail US clients. tastyfx is not the cheapest name in this category. It is a reasonably priced broker wearing a rebrand.
